Robert H. Adams, 70, of Jamestown

died May

12, 2010 at Newport Hospital.

He was the husband of Julia B. (Beeghly) Adams.

Born in New York City, N.Y. on March 2, 1940, he was the son of the late Frederick and Harriet (Woodard) Adams.

Mr. Adams was a self-employed sailmaker for 50 years, retiring in 2009. He also worked as a self-employed contractor for many years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newport, where he served as a deacon and an elder, and was also a member of the Cruising Club of America. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America and served as troop leader of Troop 33 of Newport. He was an avid sailor and his family was the first to sail across the Atlantic Ocean as a family. He was very active in Alpha Tan Omega fraternity at Mount Union College.

Besides his wife of 47 years, he is survived by his son, Charles B. Adams, and his wife, Corrie, of Bessemer, Pa. and his brother, Gerard Adams, of Underhill, Vt.

His funeral was held May 16 at First Presbyterian Church in Newport; burial was private.
