Community pulls together

During the recent Memorial Day weekend, I was dispatched to a parking complaint on Union Street.

A summer resident had his tire fall off his boat trailer, making the road impassable. It was a bit more than a parking complaint. It took a few hours, but the trailer was fixed after overcoming many obstacles. As I assisted with traffi c, safety, etc., the kindness of the residents was amazing.

Mr. Taft, thank you for your expertise and hours of work from your family to help a stranger. To all the people who offered water and to care for a dog in the truck, thank you. Mr. Munger, thank you for your help and dock space. There are many more to thank who made my job and the situation a whole lot easier.

The police department is there to protect and serve and to get in harm’s way when necessary. In such an unusual situation, it was great to see how this community pulled together to help a stranger.

I just wanted you all to know that I appreciated the help, as did a new fan of Jamestown.
Officer Scott Sullivan
Jamestown Police Dept.
