An outstanding islander


Mike Spahr of Jamestown received the outstanding senior athlete award during the recent North Kingstown High School senior appreciation night. Out of 135 participating senior athletes, Spahr and Olympian Liz Beisel were honored for athletic accomplishment, scholastic achievement, leadership and character. Spahr also played saxophone for four years in the symphonic band, was a member of the executive council for four years, received many MVP and sportsmanship awards and is the current indoor 55-meter high hurdles state champion. He is also the current class president. Spahr will attend the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and will study legal studies.
