Fuzz Foundation to honor athletes
Island athletes can apply for a $500 award from the Fuzz Foundation for Dedicated Athletes, a non-profit organization created in memory of Donald “Fuzzy” Andreozzi by his daughters, Megan and Rachel Andreozzi.
This year’s awards will be presented to two high school seniors from Jamestown, one male and one female, in recognition of their extraordinary team leadership and dedication to their sports. Each winner will be chosen by a selection committee, and will receive a $500 award to be used for expenses during their first year of college.
For more than 30 years, Fuzzy supported youth groups and athletics as a mentor, coach and fan. Fuzzy was a true role model for all athletes and always emphasized the importance of teamwork and dedication. What mattered to him was how athletes put their heart into what they did, win or lose.
The winners will be presented with their awards during the summer at an upcoming event to be announced.
Applications must be postmarked no later than July 15, 2010. For information, visit www.thefuzzfoundationfordedicatedathletes. blogspot.com.
