Islanders graduate from Bryant University

Two island residents graduated from Bryant University during its 147th commencement recently.

Ian Taylor received a B.S. degree in business administration, marketing. Katherine Vieira received a B.S. degree in business administration, management.

Island residents graduate from CCRI

Several island residents graduated from the Community College of Rhode Island during the college’s recent 45th commencement at the Vincent A. Cullen Field House at the Knight campus in Warwick. Almost 700 graduates participated in the commencement.

Islanders included Heather Bartee, Patrick Matthew Byrne (high honors), Stuart R. Maccoll, Alex B. Sugalski (honors) and Justin Philip Sularz (high honors).

Cook receives Gorman prize for excellence

Elizabeth Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Cook of Jamestown, was honored with the Dom Bede Gorman Prize for excellence in medical physiology during this year’s commencement weekend at Portsmouth Abbey School.

She will attend the University of Vermont in Burlington this fall.

Kouttab graduates from Pace University

Anna M. Kouttab of Jamestown recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Pace University in New York, N.Y.

Islanders named to Northeastern dean’s list

Two island residents were recently named to the dean’s list at Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. for the spring 2010 semester. They are Meaghan Hitt, a physical therapy major, and Victor Lambert, a chemical engineering major.

Island students win Portsmouth Abbey awards

Two island students were honored during the recent Prize Day at Portsmouth Abbey School.

Christopher Waterman, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Willis Waterman of Jamestown, received the St. Anselm College Book Award, presented to a student in the fifth form (grade 11) who exercises a capacity for academic achievement and continued education, has an awareness of social responsibility, displays leadership qualities and possesses strong character.

Jeffrey Heath, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Heath of Jamestown, received an art award for excellence in photography. He is a fourth form student (grade 10).

Jamestowners graduate from St. Michael’s

Several island students graduated from St. Michael’s Country Day School in Newport during the school’s 71st commencement last week.

Jamestown graduates included Nicholas Edward Beal, Elizabeth Dewey Desrosiers and Rebecca Grace Howe.

Five graduates were recognized for their contributions to the school community. The Alan F. Flynn Jr. flag, awarded to the student who has accepted a position of responsibility and trust while maintaining a commitment to academic excellence, was awarded to Rebecca Howe.

Closing remarks and a heartfelt farewell were delivered by Will Dewey of Jamestown, father of Katie Desrosiers and Libbie Desrosiers.
