Theatre By The Sea to present ‘Hello, Dolly!’ starting next week

“Hello, Dolly!” will open at Theatre By The Sea on Wednesday, June 23.

This musical follows Mrs. Dolly Gallagher Levi on her quest to match three young men with the perfect spouse. Full of glorious dancing and classic tunes, this vibrant testament to the human spirit and joy of living not only recalls the 1890s era in which this Jerry Herman musical is set, but also the Golden Age of Broadway.

Music includes “Hello, Dolly,” “Before the Parade Passes By” and “Put On Your Sunday Clothes,” which was featured in the Disney movie Wall-e.

Ocean State Theatre Company will welcome Broadway performer Cady Huffman, who won the Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Ulla in the original Broadway production of The Producers in her Theatre By The Sea debut in the starring role of Dolly Levi. She will be joined by Al Bundonis, who starred as Laurence in last season’s award-winning production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, who will portray the role of Horace Vandergelder.

“Hello, Dolly!” will be presented at Theatre By The Sea through July 11. Opening weekend performances will be held on Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 4:30 and 8:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 and 8 p.m. All other performances will be held Tuesday through Friday evenings at 8 p.m., Thursdays at 2 p.m., Saturdays at 4:30 and 8:30 p.m. and Sundays at 5 p.m.

The theatre is located at 364 Cards Pond Rd. in Matunuck. Tickets are $39 to $49 for all performances, and are on sale at the box office Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., or online at www.theatrebythesea.com.
