Jamestown School students graduate, receive honors

Photo by Andrea von Hohenleiten Jamestown School students were honored for their academic, artistic, musical, civic and physical education achievements Tuesday during Lawn Avenue School’s annual awards ceremony.

The award winners were:

Founders Award – Kelsey Cabrera and Garrett Bucklin; Excellence in English – Samuel Hollister and Faith Chadwick; Excellence in Science – Samuel Hollister and Hollister Bobola; Excellence in Math – Jonathan Carney and Madeline Brophy; Excellence in Foreign Languages – Samuel Hollister and Madeline Brophy; and Excellence in Social Studies – Sofia Greco-Byrne and Isabel Crabtree.

The Good Citizenship Award went to Kristjana McCarthy and Grant Gillis; the Ida Richard’s Warrior Heart Award went to Travis Earley and Roma Patel; the Principal’s Award was given to Faith Chadwick and Benjamin Lee; and the Matt Allen Visual Art Award went to Carson Toppa.

The Jamestown Humane Society sponsored an essay contest for the Mary Stearns McGaughan Compassion Towards Animals Awards. The first place winner was Faith Chadwick, second place winner was Kaela Kennedy and third place winner was Dana Larkin. Ellissa Barclay de Tolley and Brooke Reis received honorable mentions.

The Technology Education Award was presented to Ryan Geib and Rebecca Small.

The Excellence in Fine Arts Award was presented to Kaela Kennedy and Benjamin Stewart. Conanicut Island Art Association Awards were presented to Jacquelyn Peterson, Jared Enos, Jessy Primiano and Andrue Cobb.

The Velma Moore Task Force Award was presented to Jacquelyn Tantimonaco. Jan Trousilek and Melissa Bershad won the Friends of the Philomenian Library Award. The Jamestown Educational Support Personnel Award was presented to Jasper Flour.

Madeline Brown and Brittany Metrolis received the Chorus Achievement Award, while Benjamin Stewart, Melissa Bershad and Faith Chadwick received the Band Achievement Award.

Dana Larkin won the Excellence in Solo Vocalist Award, Samuel Hollister won the Band Director’s Award and Ellissa Barclay de Tolley won the Best All Around Musician Award. The Louis Armstrong Jazz Award was presented to Emma Kate Vogel.

Benjamin Stewart and Sofi a Greco-Byrne won the Good Sportsmanship Award. Roma Patel and Benjamin Lee won the Ali Dunn-Packer Memorial Award.

The Renaissance Man Award was presented to Jan Trousilek and Ellissa Barclay de Tolley.

The Highest Academic Achievement Award was presented to Hollister Bobola and Samuel Hollister.

Lawn Avenue School also graduated 53 students in a ceremony held last night.

The graduates are: Ellissa Barclay de Tolly, Melissa Bershad, Hollister Bobola, Logan Bradley, Madeline Brophy, Madeline Brown, Garrett Bucklin, Aryan Burns, Kelsey Cabrera, Jonathan Carney, Faith Chadwick, Kelsey Chidester, Isabel Crabtree, Austin Crawford, Mariah Dale, Raeshelle DeValerio, Sam DiGasper, Travis Earley, Jasper Flour, Jared Ford, Miles Gallagher, Grant Gillis, Sofi a Greco-Byrne, Riley Greene and Nicholas Hanson.

Also, Sarah Hodosh, Samuel Hollister, Kerry Kardosz, Charles Keen, Kaela Kennedy, Dana Larkin, Benjamin Lee, Rex Leonard, Alyssa Lukesh, Kristjana McCarthy, Brittany Metrolis, Jameson Mielde, Jake Oldewurtel, Dustin Page, Roma Patel and Jacquelyn Peterson.

In addition, Brooke Reis, Madelyne Robinson, Benjamin Rudman, Oksana Shein, Rebecca Small, Jay Sourbeer, Benjamin Stewart, Carson Toppa, Jan Trousilek, Austin Turillo, Audrey Tuttle and Emma Kate Vogel.
