Paint at Watson Farm
Local artists are invited to join Natalie Pfanstiehl in watercolor painting workshops at the historic Watson Farm on Saturday, July 17, Aug. 14 and Sept. 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
These all-day workshops offer painters the opportunity to experience and capture the many facets of the farm buildings, stonewalls and gardens through the medium of watercolor.
Pfanstiehl has taught at the Newport Art Museum for more than 20 years. She will give a one-hour demonstration of landscape painting and spend the rest of the day assisting students with composition and painting techniques.
Students should bring their own painting materials and a bag lunch. All levels of experience with painting are welcome. Each workshop stands alone, so artists may come to one or all three.
Cost is $25 for Historic New England members and $35 for non-members. Pre-registration is requested.
Also, “Thursdays in July” will offer a special opportunity for artists of all mediums to paint all day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Watson Farm, in addition to the farm’s regular open hours – Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
Participants in this program will be asked to donate an unframed painting for the summer fundraising silent auction during the Jamestown Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Night at the Watson Farm,’ a dinner dance on Aug. 21.
