JCT plans August auditions for ‘Cinderella’
Some changes have been made to the audition schedule for the Jamestown Community Theatre’s November production of Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
Auditions will be held Aug. 11 at the Jamestown Golf Course, with callbacks on Aug. 12. Those who will be away at that time must e-mail Mary Wright for a separate audition time by July 19. Everyone who auditions must live in Jamestown.
At 6 p.m. on Aug. 11, auditions will be held for ages seven through adult who are auditioning for chorus and/or small roles. Those ages 7 through 16 must recite a memorized poem or monologue of 8 to 12 lines. Those 17 and older have no advanced preparation.
At 7 p.m., auditions will be held for ages 7 through adult wanting a lead or medium solo singing role. Participants should prepare one verse of a song and must bring sheet music to the audition, or sing a cappella. Those 7 years old through 16 who are auditioning in this category must also memorize a poem or monologue of 8 to 12 lines, in addition to their song.
Callbacks will begin at 6 p.m. on Aug. 12.
In addition, JCT seeks dancers of any age with some to a lot of experience in any area of dance. Dancers should e-mail Mary Wright by Aug. 5 at ms.wright@ cox.net. Dancers may also be in the chorus, or audition for a larger role.
Performances will take place during the weekends of Nov. 12 and 19. Rehearsals will begin Sept. 8 and will continue on Sunday afternoons, and on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Not everyone will be needed at all rehearsals.
JCT is a community theatre made up of volunteers, with an emphasis on family participation; therefore, all parents will be required to volunteer before and during the production in some capacities. If you have a special skill or would like to work as a crewmember, call co-producer, Mary Haite at 855-2693.
