Abate to perform at East Ferry Sunday

The Jamestown Parks and Recreation Dept.’s summer concert series will continue this Sunday, Aug. 8, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. with a concert by Greg Abate at East Ferry Memorial Square.

Abate is one of R.I.’s finest jazz musicians and a world-class alto sax player. He is lauded by jazz reviewers as one of the best post-BeBop alto players today. Since graduating Berklee College of Music in 1971, Abate has gained international recognition performing with the likes of Ray Charles and the Artie Shaw Orchestra.

The concert, co-sponsored by Jamestown Boat Yard and East Ferry Deli, is free to the public. Bring blankets or beach chairs and enjoy an evening of cool jazz at East Ferry.

In case of rain, the concert will be held inside the recreation center.
