Audition next week for Chorus talent show
The 21st annual talent show, “Seaside Rendezvous,” sponsored by the Jamestown Community Chorus will take place Thursday, Aug. 19, at 7:30 p.m. at the Jamestown recreation center at 41 Conanicus Ave.
Tickets are $7 general admission, $5 seniors and children.
There is still time for performers to try out for the show. Open auditions will be held on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 16 and 17, at 6:30 p.m. each evening at the recreation center.
A piano accompanist will be available. There is no charge to audition, and performers may be of any age. Residents of any community, as well as Jamestowners, are welcome to participate. Singers, storytellers, musicians, dancers and more are encouraged and invited to be part of the line-up.
New this year will be audience participation in a Kazoo-along. Colorful kazoos will be available in the lobby, or bring your own.
The show’s directors are Mark Male and Judy Stickney. Frank Darigan will once again serve as master of ceremonies.
The talent show will also be the venue for the 2010 Jamestown Community Chorus raffle drawing. Tickets ($1 each, 6 for $5) will be on sale in the lobby at the talent show, and at raffle stations this weekend in Jamestown at McQuade’s Marketplace and East Ferry.
Ticket holders have a chance to win one of three prizes: Jamestown Chamber Bucks gift certificates in denominations of $100, $75 and $50, redeemable at numerous businesses throughout Jamestown.
The Chorus, open to all who love to sing, has been making music in Jamestown since 1949 and the talent show is its biggest annual fundraiser.
