‘Thrilled’ by Windmill Day
On behalf of the Jamestown Historical Society, I would like to thank all the volunteers who came together to work to make Windmill Day a huge success!
Dick Donnelly delighted us with delicious johnnycakes, along with his knowledge of their history and how to make them. Mike Minto from Conanicut Stoneworks gave an impressive demonstration of stone-wall repair and the history of our wall.
The sails were put up, and under the direction of our most capable millwright, Jessie Lambert, we were thrilled, four times, when the bonnet was turned to catch the breeze that made the vanes spin as they did in years of old.
Most of all, thanks to all of you who came – over 400 – for your enthusiasm and interest in the “Old Jamestown Mill.”
Together, we can continue to preserve and protect her for generations to come!
