Driving without/expired

license

John Zinnah, 36, of 38 Pelham St. in Newport was charged Aug. 8 with driving without/expired license after being stopped on Rte. 138 for an alleged traffic violation, police said. An arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 27 in Newport District Court, police said.

Bench Warrant

Jeffrey McCooey, 30, of 53 Coronado St. was picked up Aug. 8 on a bench warrant from Newport District Court, according to police. Officers responded to a complaint about McCooey’s dogs and a routine check revealed that he had a bench warrant. Mc- Cooey was held at the ACI and an arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 10 in Newport District Court, police said.

DUI charge

Gregory Winslow, 26, of 2 Galley St. was charged Aug. 7 with first-offense DUI/drugs/alcohol, B.A.C. unknown, and refusal to take a Breathalyzer test after he was stopped on Narragansett Avenue for alleged erratic driving, police said. Winslow was held at the police station, and a re-arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 13 in Newport District Court, according to police.

Domestic-simple assault/battery

Denise Caswell Hall, 48, of 4 Mast Street was charged Aug. 4 with simple assault/battery after police responded to a call for their assistance in a domestic argument in progress, police said. Hall was held at the police station and a court date was scheduled for Aug. 20 in Newport District Court, according to police.

Incidents

• On Aug. 7, a skateboard (long board) worth $300 was reported missing from a house on Howland Avenue. Police checked the area and the skateboard park. The board has not yet been recovered.

• On Aug. 8, a wallet and purse were found missing from a car at Beavertail State Park. The car was unlocked and the windows were open, police said. Police remind everyone to always lock vehicles when they are not occupied, and do not leave valuables in plain view.
