Underage possession of

alcoholic beverage

Karley Logan, 19, of 186 Forest St., Raynham, Mass. was charged Aug. 12 with underage possession of an alcoholic beverage after a police officer conducted a search of a vehicle at Fort Wetherill Park after hours, police said. Logan was not held at the police station. An arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 20 at Newport District Court, according to police.

John Marsden, 20, of 102 White Oak Run, Westport, Mass. was charged Aug. 12 with underage possession of an alcoholic beverage after a police officer conducted a search of a vehicle at Fort Wetherill Park after hours, police said. Logan was not held at the police station. An arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 20 at Newport District Court, according to police.

DUI first offense and refusal

to submit to chemical test Dorothy Knott, 59, of 21 Lorelei Drive, Saunderstown was charged Aug. 14 with first offense driving under the influence of alcohol and refusal to take a Breathalyzer test after she was stopped for erratic operation of a vehicle, police said. Knott was held at the police station and a re-arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 20 at Newport District court, police said.

Kenneth Tyson, 36, of Seaside Drive was charged Aug. 15 with second offense driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol and refusal to submit to a Breathalyzer test after being stopped for erratic operation of a vehicle, police said. Tyson was held at the police station and re-arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 20 at Newport District Court, police said.

Incidents

Aug. 7, vandalism and malicious damage to a statue at St. Mark Church was reported to the police. The matter is under investigation.

Aug. 7, a caller reported that a car entered his dirt driveway and spun its wheels to deliberately cause damage. The police responded and took a report.

Aug. 9, two separate callers reported that a sign at the entrance to Beavertail State Park had been vandalized and cut down, possibly with a chain saw. DEM was notifi ed and the matter is being investigated.

Aug. 11, a woman was bit by a dog at the corner of Gondola and Capstan St. The animal control department in North Kingstown was notified and the dog was put into quarantine. The woman refused medical attention.

Aug. 11 a GPS unit was reported stolen from a boat being sold to the state police by Conanicut Marine Services between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m. The police are investigating the matter.
