Teen Center fall schedule announced
The Jamestown Teen Center will begin its school-year hours on Monday, Aug. 30, at the recreation center at 41 Conanicus Ave. The Teen Center offers island teens a place to meet new friends, hang out, play basketball, ping-pong, billiards and foosball, use the computer lab, play games and take field trips.
School-year hours will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 2 to 9 p.m.
AMPT, the Teen Center’s Youth Advisory Council, will meet Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. Come plan events, activities and field trips; community service hours can be awarded.
Every Wednesday and Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m., the Teen Center will host a special activity, such as a workshop, guest speaker or game. The center will also host a field trip or event every weekend. The fourth annual ‘Skatefest’ will be held Saturday, Sept. 11, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the skate park. Field trips will include Narragansett Beach, a URI football game, and the Boys and Girls Club in September.
Free membership is offered to all teens in grades 7 through 12. Field trips and other special activities are limited to registered members of the Teen Center.
The center will be closed Sept. 14, Nov. 2, Nov. 11 and Nov. 25.
