Island to host community summit on LNG proposal
Jamestown will host the first Congress of Councils Community Summit this Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the Jamestown recreation center at 41 Conanicus Ave.
The morning begins with a continental breakfast and candidate meet-and-greet at 7:45 a.m. Formal presentations will follow, and the event is expected to conclude by 10:30 a.m.
Confirmed speakers for the summit include Attorney General Patrick Lynch; Jonathan Stone, executive director of Save the Bay; and Evan Smith, executive director of the Newport and Bristol County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Political candidates running for statewide or federal office, along with members of the General Assembly representing Bay areas, have also been invited to attend.
The Congress of Councils is a nonpartisan advocacy consortium whose mission is to preserve the Mt. Hope and Narragansett Bays.
Members of the public are invited to attend.
