Breaking and entering

Kevin Lapearl, 26, of 2 Michael Ct. in Coventry, was charged Aug. 26 with breaking and entering a residence on Bay View Drive on July 4. Two TVs were stolen and fingerprints left at the scene allegedly matched Kevin Lapearl, police said. Lapearl was picked up in South Kingstown and a felony screening was scheduled for Sept. 30 in Newport District Court, police said.

Transportation of alcoholic

beverage by a minor

Andrew Bretti, 19, of 39 Walcott Ave. was charged Aug. 21 with transportation of an alcoholic beverage by a minor. Bretti was stopped for operating a vehicle at night with no lights, and the alcohol was allegedly in plain view, police said. Bretti was not held at the police station and an arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 27 in Newport District Court, according to police.

Reckless driving and possession of marijuana Andrew Wilkinson, 21, of 8 Spirketing St., was charged Aug. 28 with reckless driving and firstoffense possession of marijuana. Wilkinson allegedly drove through a stop sign and sped away from an officer at 70 mph in a 25 mph zone. Wilkinson admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle, police said. He was held at the police station, where a re-arraignment was scheduled for Sept. 3 in Newport District Court, police said.

Driving without a license

Edward J. Moy, 47, of 74 Ship St., was charged Aug. 30 with driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over for going through a stop sign without stopping, police said. An arraignment was scheduled for Sept. 10 in Newport District Court, police said.


On Aug. 27, a purse was reported stolen from an unlocked and unattended vehicle at Beavertail State Park. Police remind everyone to lock their vehicles when they are not occupied and to not leave valuables in plain view.
