Clarifications on JAC fundraiser

The Jamestown Arts Center would like to thank the Press for last week’s coverage of our Sept. 25 fundraiser ‘PARTY NOW!’ The Press’s ongoing support is invaluable as we endeavor to build our community a home for the arts.

We would like to make a few important clarifications:

Fifty-four incredible people sit on our board of directors and committees. Dori Hirsch, Barb Hutchison, Jane Mitchell and Abby Campbell King were among the first board members. Our current board of directors includes Jocelyn Donaghue, Dianne Grippi, Anne Livingston, Mary Beth Murphy and Vivi Valentine. This dedicated board works with our executive director, Lisa Randall, and each person is pivotal to JAC’s success.

Our vision was misquoted as “We believe we can transform lives.” It should have read, “We believe art transforms lives.”

One generous donor loaned the arts center funds only to be used to purchase the property at 18 Valley St. ‘PARTY NOW!’s proceeds will help repay that loan, as well as fund general operations and renovations.

Finally, ‘PARTY NOW!’ event committee co-chairs Katie Munger and Courtney Hunter have worked with Vanessa Wurman and Leslie Banker to create a fabulous community capital campaign kick-off. ‘PARTY NOW!’ is designed to give everyone an opportunity to see the tremendous potential of 18 Valley St. and to enjoy a fun night supporting the arts in Jamestown!
