Church forum to focus on immigration

The often-debated topic of immigration will be the focus of a Sept. 19 forum at Central Baptist Church.

James Keller, a Jamestown resident who has been at the forefront of immigration issues in Rhode Island, will lead the 11 a.m. event.

Keller and other speakers will address topics such as the history of immigration in the U.S.; a summary of immigration law; the economic impact of immigration; the effects of deportation; the issue of undocumented immigrants; remittances by immigrants to family members in home countries; opposition to immigration; and church denominations’ positions on immigration.

The forum is open to the public. Central Baptist Church is located at 99 Narragansett Ave.
