Islanders cast votes in primary election

Tuesday was Primary Election Day in Rhode Island, and 860 island residents turned out at the recreation center to cast their votes.

Voter turnout was down from the last joint Democratic and Republican primary in 2006, when 1,246 islanders cast their votes, said Karen Montoya, clerk to the Board of Canvassers.
