JCT to present ‘Cinderella’

The Jamestown Community Theatre will present its production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 14, at 4 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 21, at 4 p.m. at the Jamestown recreation center at 41 Conanicus Ave.

The November production coincides with the Jamestown Community Theatre’s 20th anniversary.

“JCT’s production of Cinderella is for anyone who believes in fairy tales,” said Mary S. Wright, director. “This enchanting musical is the perfect way to celebrate 20 years of magical community theatre in Jamestown.”

Although Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella was originally written for adult performers, the JCT cast will include island residents ages seven to 82.

Annie McIntyre will serve as assistant director. Lisa Brown and Mary Haite will produce, and Rebecca Brazil will be musical director, with Walter Sage’s assistance both vocally and on piano. Dori Hirsch will be costume director, and a team of artists will design the set.

Tickets can be purchased after Oct. 13 at Baker’s Pharmacy, Cathryn Jamieson Salon, Secret Garden and the Conanicut Marine Store. In Newport, tickets will be available at Pleasant Surprise and in Wickford, at Midnight Sun.

Senior and children’s tickets will be $7; regular adult tickets will be $12. Ticket prices will increase to $10 and $15 if tickets are purchased at the door.
