Free sample of yoga classes Nov. 1
On Monday, Nov. 1, the Jamestown Recreation Department and Innerlight Yoga will partner to offer two free introductory yoga classes to island residents.
The first class at 8:30 a.m. is for students who have had some prior experience with yoga. The second class at 10 a.m. is a gentle style class for students of all levels, including those who have no prior experience with yoga.
Some of the many proven benefi ts of yoga include stress reduction and decreased blood pressure.
The emphasis on breathing increases lung capacity and helps with asthma and insomnia.
Yoga also helps alleviate depression, supports weight loss and enhances overall flexibility and range of motion.
Denise Rounds, an Innerlight instructor, will conduct the classes at the golf course building. She has a wide range of teaching experience and recently had the opportunity to study with John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga, which is the fastest growing style of yoga in the country.
Anyone is welcome to attend to learn about yoga and to receive the benefits of yoga. Mats are provided for this free class.
