Frank S. Medeiros, 93
Jamestown died Monday, Oct. 25, 2010 at the Grand Islander Center in Middletown, where he lived for the past five years after having been a life-long resident of Jamestown. He was the beloved husband of the late Idalina (Adeline) Furtado Medeiros, to whom he was married for 55 years.
Born in Jamestown, he was the son of the late Jose and Mary (Thomas) Medeiros. He was the brother of the late Joseph Medeiros.
He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army in the European theater. Until he retired in 1981 he worked as a finish carpenter and took pride in the fact that he built his own home. His hobby was fishing from the rocks or in his little boat on the waters around Jamestown. In his retirement years he devoted himself to vegetable gardens, flower gardens, and fruit trees, which adorned his property on Clarke Street. He loved Jamestown and was a true neighbor to anyone in need.
He is survived by a niece, Venise Hansen, of California and several cousins including his goddaughter, Sr. Frances Thomas, RSM. He is survived by several good neighbors who ministered to his needs, especially Julio DiGiando.
The funeral will be held today, October 28, 2010 at 8:45 a.m. from the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mark Church, 60 Narragansett Avenue, Jamestown.
Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Mark Cemetery.
