Melrose Elementary helps the homeless
The Melrose School Improvement Team and Melrose Elementary School announced the “Warm The World Sock Drive” to be held from Nov. 5-19. Students from Melrose Elementary are asked to donate new socks this month as part of a schoolwide community service project this fall. The drive was organized by the Jamestown School Improvement Team.
With the first “Warm the World Sock Drive,” Jamestown children in grades K-4 will help others in need right here in Rhode Island. Children are encouraged to bring in new white or colored socks for homeless children, adults and families as we approach the winter.
Melrose students should bring the donated socks to their classroom teachers, who will collect the donations.
On Nov. 18, the socks will be donated in a special assembly to Crossroads Rhode Island.
