NKHS sets the stage for Shakespeare

NorTHeatre and Thespian Troupe 6945, North Kingstown High School’s drama club, will present their production of “Romeo and Juliet” on Nov. 19, 20 and 21. Friday and Saturday performances will be at 7 p.m. and Sunday’s performance will be at 2 p.m.

In their innovative reworking of Shakespeare’s classic tale of teenage love, NorTHeatre sets the action in Verona High School where the Capulets are jocks and cheerleaders and the Montagues are non-conformist misfits, and they tackle issues including stereotyping, school violence and social labels.

Jamestowners who will be participating in the play are Spencer Darymple, Georgia Wright, Ivy Burns, Vaughn Nelson-Lee, MacEllen McDonough, Jack Clarke and Phil Ryng.

Tickets are $8 in advance and can be purchased at www.northeatre. com. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door for $10.
