Vandal, Patricia (Miller), 77,

of Hamilton Avenue,

passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010. She was the wife of the late Maurice C. “Mo” Vandal.

Born in Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Anthony J. and Edith (Amato) Miller.

She graduated from Rhode Island College of Education, where she served as class secretary and on the school’s 150th Anniversary Committee.

She taught at Jamestown and Narragansett Elementary Schools. Following her life-long passion, she returned to the Jamestown School where she taught music and led the school chorus until she retired. She was a founding member of the Jamestown Community Theatre.

She spent her winters on Hutchinson Island in Stuart, Fla. and was an avid golfer during her retirement.

A communicant of St. Mark Church, she served as the choir director for many years and was also a member of the Centennial Committee.

She leaves three sons, Albert P. “Pat” Lyons and his wife Mary Kay, Stephen M. Lyons and his wife Natasha, and Matthew T. Lyons; three step-children, Colleen M. Vandal, Brig. Gen. Thomas S. Vandal and John E. Vandal; one grandson and six step-grandchildren.

Her funeral was held Nov. 15, 2010 from the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd. in North Kingstown, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mark Church, 60 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown. Burial was private. Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the Jamestown Community Theatre (Designated for the Patti Vandal Student Award Fund), PO Box 14, Jamestown, R.I., 02835.
