Senior and Teen Centers join forces

The Jamestown Senior Center and Jamestown Teen Center will offer a Holiday Helpers service. Seniors and teens will be available to wrap presents, iron linens and polish silver at the recreation center on 41 Conanicus Ave. on Saturday, Dec. 11, and Saturday, Dec. 18, between 2 and 5 p.m.

They will accept donations of wrapping paper, tape, tissue paper, ribbons and bows, ironing boards and irons andsilver polish.

The Teen Center will also host an evening of wreath decorating on Thursday, Dec. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the recreation center. The public is invited to decorate wreaths for Lucy’s Hearth Annual Wreath Sale. Lucy’s Hearth is Newport County’s homeless shelter for women and children.

The wreath sale will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Easton’s Beach Rotunda. Local artists and Jamestown Arts Center members will be on site to help. Wreaths, bows, and glue will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring some additional supplies including dried flowers, pinecones, winterberries, rose hips, shells, dried starfish and ribbons.
