School applauds negotiations

Recent media coverage of the school committee’s contract settlement with the Jamestown Teachers Association correctly reported key changes in the economic terms of the agreement. What such coverage can’t capture, however, is the invaluable asset Jamestown has in its teachers, who not only partnered with the district to contain costs in a weak economy, but also generated creative, out-of-thebox solutions that expand the district’s commitment to professional development without a corresponding increase in cost.

The Jamestown School Committee is grateful to the JTA negotiating team and the broader membership for their collaborative spirit, their commitment to professional growth and their daily efforts to provide a healthy, challenging learning environment in our schools.
