Community band to hold holiday concert
The Jamestown Community Band will present its annual holiday concert on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Portuguese American Citizens Club at 128 Narragansett Ave.
Under the direction of Bethany Clarke, the program includes the holiday favorite “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson, Mel Torme’s “Christmas Song,” a medley of Polar Express tunes, a new Holiday fanfare, “Christmas Florish,” with Frosty and Rudolph.
Everyone is welcome and free refreshments will follow the event. Donations are gratefully accepted.
Prior to the band’s 7 p.m. performance, there will be a special jazz performance at 6:40 p.m. by the Aaron Cote combo, with songs that include “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “Santa Baby,” “Let It Snow” and “Christmas Time is Here.”
The band members include Sam Bari on piano, Fred Brome on bass and Aaron Cote on drums, along with guest vocalist Michelle Cruz.
New members to the band are welcome. Rehearsals are at the PAC Club at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays.
