Navy chorus invites singers for new year

The Newport Navy Choristers seeks new members in all voice ranges for the 2011 spring season. The chorus is a mixed singing group and is open to all members of the Newport Navy community including active duty, reserve and retired military personnel, their spouses and family members 16 years and up, as well as civilian Department of Defense employees.

There are no auditions and experience is not necessary. The chorus performs at concerts throughout the year to benefit local charitable organizations. Since its founding in 1953, they have raised over $350,000 for charity.

Rehearsals start on Tuesday, Jan. 4, at 7 p.m. They will be held at Perry Hall, Building 440, Room 100, on the Newport Navy Station and continue every Tuesday thereafter. For more information, contact Pat McGue at 849-1135 or JoAnn Loewenthal at 849-4823.
