Book group to discuss Moehringer title

The Book Discussion Group at the Jamestown library chose “The Tender Bar: A Memoir” by J.R. Moehringer as the title for its first discussion of the year. The conversation about the book will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m., and Monday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m.

Other titles being discussed by the group this year are “Secret Scripture” by Sebastian Barry, “Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand” by Helen Simonson, “The Unforgiving Minute: A Soldier’s Education” by Craig M. Mullaney, and a biography of poet Emily Dickinson.

The Dickinson biography will be accompanied by a film – “Loaded Gun: Life, and Death, and Dickinson” – as part of the Jamestown Historical Society’s “Jamestown and Silver Screen” project in April.

Book discussions are free and open to the public. For more information, call the library at 423- 7280.
