Thanks to Santa and his elves

How quickly the holiday season comes upon us, then it’s over. But it takes an endless team of volunteers working as individuals and in numerous groups and committees over many weeks to make Christmas in Jamestown so very special.

I would like to extend a big thank you to those individuals that helped me with the 2010 Island Christmas that I chaired.

Cutting, transportation and set up of community Christmas tree: Rick Anderson, Blake Dickinson, Mark Baker, Steve Froberg, Pres Froberg, Pete Largess, Doug Chapman and the Jamestown Police Department.

Santa arrives by boat: Dick Alphin and his vessel, Nancy B; Charlie Petit, who played Santa, and Joan Goldstein, who played Mrs. Clause; and elves Doreen, Shannon, Charlotte and Michael Keeley. Thanks also to the crew at Newport’s Castle Hill Coast Guard and the Jamestown Fire Department.

Pictures with Santa and Mrs. Clause: Shannon Keeley, May Munger and Kevin Green. Stop by and pick them up, free of charge.

Construction of the Shorby Hill pageant manger: Steve Munger, Dickinson, Eddie Coughlan and Matt Largess.

Pageant lighting: Jay Brittain, Jack Brittain and his crew at Jack’s Electric, Rick and Jill Anderson, Pres Froberg, Bob Bailey and Ed Woodson.

Finally, I expect that you will see many of these same folks later this week taking all of this down, packing it away somewhere and getting it ready for next year.

Thank you all for making Jamestown so special.
