Mary W. (Healey) Smith
76 Howland Ave., passed away on Dec. 30, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond E. Smith Sr.; they were married 49 years.
Mary was born in Boston, Mass., and was the daughter of the late Patrick Healey and Mary (Platti) Healey. Smith worked at the Ladd Center in Exeter until her retirement in 1981. Mary was known as the “Paper Lady” on the island, and delivered newspapers for 32 years in Jamestown.
She is survived by her children,
Maureen B. Morlen and husband Chris of Jamestown; Carl B. Smith of Johnson City, Tenn.; Robert A. Smith and wife Celeste of West Warwick; Mark L. Smith and wife Barbara of Warwick; two daughters-in-law, Lauren M Vogel of Atlanta, Ga., and Katherine K. Smith, the wife of Mary’s late son Raymond E. Smith Jr. of Tilton, N.H.
Mary was also the cherished grandmother of 10, the greatgrandmother of three and the aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two brothers, Edward Healey of Milton, Mass., and Thomas Healey of Florida.
She was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church. A private Mass of Christian Burial was held on Jan 3.
