Parks and Rec director earns master’s degree

Bill Piva, the director of the Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department, has earned a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Rhode Island.

The program offers traditional and the most current administrative theory and practices. The core curriculum conforms to the National Association of Schools for Public Administration guidelines concentrating on a number of critical areas such as program and policy analysis, strategic decision making, public budgeting and personnel administration, administrative law and ethics.

Along with completing the MPA, Piva will receive a certifi cate specializing in labor relations. He also holds a master’s degree in administration of justice from Salve Regina University.
