Islander honored for translating Simmel
Islander John Andrews was honored by the University of Chicago Press for his translation of the “The View of Life,” the final work of German philosopher Georg Simmel. The work was originally published in 1918.
Donald Levine also helped translate the publication. According to the web site of the University of Chicago Press, “Simmel addressed a variety of topics across his essayistic writings, which have influenced scholars in aesthetics, ethics, epistemology, and sociology.”
