Thanks for wonderful party

On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Jamestown Philomenian Library, I sincerely thank everyone who helped make the retirement party for Judy Bell a great success. There was a capacity crowd of well-wishers at the Portuguese American Citizens Club to celebrate Judy’s 24 years of service as director of the Jamestown library.

The Board of Trustees and the Board of the Friends of the Jamestown Library cosponsored the party and all of the board members helped out in many ways.

Nancy Logan, Heidi Keller Moon, Nancy Cloud, Gail Eaton and all ticket purchasers made it possible to give Judy this wonderful gift.

Nancy Logan designed a wonderful, keepsake poster; Jane Bentley distributed the poster around town. Jeff Mc- Donough and the Jamestown Press donated advertisements, articles and printed the party tickets. Fran Gorman designed the imaginative decorations. Jane and David Bentley, Cindy Smith, Suzie Andrews and Josy Wright helped to set up those fantastic decorations. Julia Lloyd kept track of all ticket sales and donations. Bill Knapp and the Jamestown Community Band provided a wonderful surprise – musical entertainment – a tribute to the “Music Man,” Judy’s favorite Broadway musical.

Ken Newman helped out with all the details. David Long was the best emcee an island could have. Mc- Quade’s Marketplace baked the cake in Westerly and transported it to Jamestown. The Secret Garden provided the balloons and the PAC Club accommodated a near capacity crowd with grace and good food.

On a personal note, I would like to thank my escorts for the evening: Ralph Klingbeil, Benjamin Borhegyi and Daniel Borhegyi. They allowed me to honor my friend Judy and made the event extra special for me.
