George C. Blair
Born in Birmingham, Ala., he was a son of the late Hugh J. and Marjorie (Stimpson) Blair.
A 27-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, Blair served in World War II, Korea and during the Vietnam era. He worked as a dispatcher for the Jamestown Fire Department from 1969 until 1984.
A lifetime member and former president of the Jamestown Lions Club, Blair was a Melvin Jones recipient. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed golfing, hockey and baseball. He was a communicant of St. Mark Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters; Marlene B. Murphy and husband William H. Murphy of Jamestown; and Erin B. Haggarty and husband Martin F. Haggarty of Wakefield. He also leaves behind a brother, Everett Blair of Holliston, Mass.; a sister, Ruth Miller of Florida; and three grandchildren: William H. Murphy, Cayla and Liam Haggarty. He was predeceased by six siblings.
His funeral was held at Fagan- Quinn Funeral Home and he was buried with military honors in St. Mark Cemetery.
