Free tax help this month at library

The American Association of Retired Persons will offer free assistance with tax returns through March at the Jamestown Philomenian Library on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All tax preparers are trained, and are required to pass a certification test each year. Counselors are qualified to handle most common schedules and forms; complex returns should be taken to paid tax preparers. Federal returns, along with state returns for Rhode Island and Massachusetts, can be prepared. Returns are electronically filed.
