Taxpayers’ group elects new board members
The Taxpayers’ Association of Jamestown voted in its executive committee for 2011. Blake Dickinson has been elected president, assuming responsibility from John Pagano, who had been the president since the groups founding in April 2009.
Pagano will continue in a newly created position as executive advisor of counsel. Gary Girard was elected vice president. Jerry Scott remains corresponding secretary, Amy Gallagher remains recording secretary and Rob Gallagher was elected treasurer.
Given its rapid growth with membership approaching 100 members, the association has established five working committees headed by members of the executive committee. These committees include public relations, finance, membership, schools and statewide coalitions. Pagano will continue to head statewide coalitions.
“It’s been a privilege organizing this group and bringing focus to taxpayer issues that affect us here locally, statewide, and even nationally,” said Pagano. “As we continue to build our organization, it’s necessary for our leadership team to bring fresh and varied perspectives to our mission. Blake has been an active member of [the taxpayers’ association] and is dedicated and diligent in his pursuit to educate our taxpayers on hot-button issues that will affect our quality of life here in Jamestown.”
