George Bryer, 60, of Pemberton Avenue, peacefully passed away in his home on March 24, 2011. He was the son of the late Doris Gilligan Bryer, formerly of Jamestown, and George Bryer Sr. of Harrison, Maine.
George was born and raised in Newport and then resided at the LADD School in Exeter. He lived in Jamestown for 25 years. George was employed by the Jamestown Press for many years, delivering papers to local businesses and organizations. He was well known around town. Being such an animal lover, George was a dog walker and a volunteer at the Potter League and enjoyed visiting the Newport dog park.
George was part of the Bridges community and was loved by his housemates, friends and staff. With a twinkle in his eye and a smile that could light up a room, he brought joy to all who knew him. He was a courtly man, who was kind, gentle and caring.
A true Jamestowner, George loved sailing and was involved in Sail to Prevail. George loved people and was sure to stop and say hello to anyone and everyone.
He is survived by his brother, Michael Bryer; two nephews, Michael and Patrick Bryer; niece, Alicia Bryer, of Harrison, Maine; and his father.
He is also survived by his family of housemates: Paula Montaquila, Elaine Elias, Michael Detour, Corenia Pascua, Matthew Vars and his devoted and loving friends at Bridges.
Services were held at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
