Roy J. LeDoux
Roy J. LeDoux, 94, of Baldwin Court, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 4, 2011, at South County Hospital. He was the husband of the late Claire S. (Bernier) LeDoux for 61 years. A native of Jamestown, Roy was the son of the late Alfred J. and Maria (Goyaux) LeDoux.
LeDoux was a chief design engineer for NASA and worked at the Rocket Research Lab at Edwards Air Force Base in California. He was affectionately known as “ The ol’ Rocketeer.” He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, having served as Grand Knight, District Deputy and Supreme Council Member. He was the driving force in founding the St. Mark Council in 1986. He was an active communicant of St. Mark Church, having serviced his parish community as a Eucharistic Minister.
He is survived by his loving children, Elaine Plummer of Elkridge, Md., Richard R. LeDoux of Chesapeake Beach, Md., Robert A. LeDoux of Silver Springs, Md., David J. LeDoux of West Kingston and his “bright light” daughter in-law, Jenny Evans-LeDoux; cherished grandfather of five including his “special grandson,” Sean Evans, and great-grandfather of five. He was predeceased by nine siblings.
His funeral will be held Saturday, April 9, at 8:45 a.m. at the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home in North Kingstown with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Church. Burial will follow at the St. Mark Cemetery.
