Collaboration ’11 was a success
The Jamestown Arts Center Board of Directors — Kate Petrie, Dianne Grippi, Anne Livingston, Mary Beth Murphy, Vivi Valentine and myself — would like to thank the Jamestown Press for its coverage of the new JAC and this year’s Collaboration ’11 show.
We would like to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of Jeanne Urquhart for her curatorial skills for the Top Collaborators show, a preeminent array of diverse works by the participating artists: Jillian Barber, Greer Beecroft, David and Jennifer Clancy, Peter Diepenbrock, Chris Kent, Alison Lutz, Christine Richard, Didi Suydam, Trish Van Cleef, Jane McNally Wright and Josy Wright.
We extend special thanks to arts aficionado Vanessa Wurman for her judicious judging of this year’s show and for recognizing the emotional integrity of youth art; to Elizabeth Congdon for co-hanging the shows and for conducting the children’s collage workshops in coordination with the Jamestown Philomenian Library’s children’s department; and to John Kotula for conducting the recycled books workshop for middle school students.
And lastly, thanks to all the participating Collaboration ’11 artists who helped transform the JAC’s large space into a stunning display of artistic talent. We hope their work will inspire all Jamestowners, and those beyond our shores, to create their own 12-by- 12-inch square masterpiece for Collaboration ’12.
