Museum holds contest for college bound
The Beavertail Museum Lighthouse Association will offer two $1,000 scholarships for high school seniors who are Jamestown residents and have been accepted into a school of higher learning.
The W. Craig Armington Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of one of the founders and officers of the museum association. The Beavertail Museum Lighthouse Association was founded in 1993 to preserve the historic lighthouse, maintain its museum and learn and share the history of Beavertail Lighthouse with the public.
An essay written in response to a brief history of the Beavertail Lighthouse is part of the application process. Each of the two awardees will receive a $1,000 scholarship to be applied toward college tuition, books or fees related to their courses of study.
Applications are available at the Jamestown Philomenian Library or at the association’s Web site.
The deadline to submit applications is May 2.
