Museum opens up season with two events
The Gilbert Stuart Birthplace & Museum will host a pair of events the first week of May, including the Spring Fair on Sunday, May 1, and the bird walk on Saturday, May 7.
The Spring Fair on Sunday will mark the formal opening of the 2011 season at the museum and all funds raised from the event will go towards repairs to the museum’s ladder dam. The fair will begin at 1 p.m. and there will be events for all ages, including an open house and self-conducted tours on the nature trail. Admission is free for members, $5 for adults and $2 for children.
On Saturday, May 7, biologists Walter Berry and Wayne Munns will lead a bird walk on the Gilbert Stuart Nature Trail from 7 to 9 a.m. The walk will be limited to 15 participants on a first-come, first-serve basis and reservations are requested. The charge is $5 per person and refreshments will be served in the conference room after the walk.
