Specialist to hold food preservation program
The Jamestown Philomenian Library will host “Food Preservation Basics” with Martha Smith Patnoad on Tuesday, May 17, at 6:30 p.m. Patnoad is a cooperative extension food safety education specialist in the Department of Food Sciences and Nutrition at the University of Rhode Island.
The seminar will teach food preservation techniques such as canning, freezing and drying so participants can learn to preserve fruits and vegetables for use throughout the year.
Fifteen participants must register in order for the program to go forward. Registration is at the library and deadline is Monday, May 9. The program is free and open to the public.
