Crank/obscene telephone calls

Samuel Baugh, 57, of 73 Carr Lane, was charged April 30 with making several unwanted telephone calls after police responded to a complaint, police said. Baugh was held at the police station where he was arraigned by a justice of the peace. A re-arraignment was scheduled for May 6 at Newport District Court.

• On April 28, a credit card, a GPS and $25 were reported missing from an unlocked vehicle at 2 Bryer Ave.

• On April 28, a few CDs were reported missing from an unlocked vehicle at 101 North Rd.

• On April 28, $10 in loose change was reported missing from an unlocked vehicle at 31 Clinton Ave.

• On April 30, a fire department/ rescue license plate decal was reported missing from an unlocked vehicle at 1 Ship St.

• On May 1, a Whistler radar detector and power cord were reported missing from an unlocked vehicle at 28 Clarke St.

• On May 1, a lawn at 33 America Way was vandalized by a motor vehicle, police said. The victim claims that vandals have damaged the lawn at least once a month.

• On May 1, a cement Asianstyle birdbath weighing approximately 60 pounds was reported missing from an unlocked vehicle at 209 Beacon Ave.

• On May 1, a Garmin GPS worth $200 was reported missing from an unlocked vehicle at 117 Longfellow Road.

• On May 1, two radar detectors valued at $350 each were reported missing from two separate vehicles at 1 Meadow Lane.

• On May 2, police responded to a call from a victim at 109 Carr Lane who was allegedly receiving harassing phone calls from a person with whom the victim had business relations. The matter is under investigation.

The Jamestown Police Department encourages Jamestown residents to lock all unattended vehicles and to not leave valuables where they are visible.
