JAC announces summer classes for kids

The Jamestown Arts Center will hold its first session of weeklong summer courses, which will begin on July 18. The instructor is Natalie Squillante and the fee for each course is $160.

Children between the ages of 5-8 will learn how to make functional ceramic pieces, will be introduced to and use methods of creating art with clay, and will learn about the potter’s process. Each child will have the opportunity to create a tumbler, mug, bowl or sculpture.

Children between the ages of 9-12 will delve into art making based on and influenced by artists that use collage, clay and color as a means of expression. Students will explore different methods and create pottery and collages that are uniquely interwoven.

All classes are subject to cancelation if a minimum number of children don’t sign up. For more information, call 662-3839.
