Cub Scouts send thanks to veterans

Jamestown Cub Scout Pack 1 had a wonderful time participating in Battery Day. Thanks to Larry McDonald, Mary Heath and Rosemary Enright of the Jamestown Historical Society for organizing a fascinating event. Thanks to the Planning Department for allowing us to camp on site. We are lucky that there are great places for our scouts to camp here in town.

Thanks to all the reenactors, including the Newport Artillery Company and the Rhode Island 14th Regiment who put on a special demonstration of maneuvers and drills for the boys.

We would also like to thank the veterans who participate in the town events. To see our Cub Scouts trying to emulate such an experienced color guard make us proud as parents, scout leaders and Americans.

With Memorial Day coming up, it is also worth remembering their sacrifi ces and those of countless others, many of whom were not much older than our Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts when they were chosen to, or chose to, as underage volunteers, defend our country and our way of life.
