Community farm to begin season Saturday
The Jamestown Community Farm will begin its 11th season on Saturday, June 4. In the previous 10 years a total of 130,000 pounds of fresh vegetables have been grown and donated to soup kitchens and food pantries throughout the state.
The farm offers community service hours for school-age children and has also created the opportunity of a learning experience for children and adults of all ages.
The four-acre farm is located on land donated by Peter and Jean Ceppi and is on the corner of Eldred Avenue and East Shore Road. Volunteer hours are Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m.
