Veterans needed to keep posts open

Time is running out for the continuation of the American Legion Post 22 and the VFW Post 9447 in Jamestown.

There are not enough members attending meetings, parades and functions to keep our charters.

I think there are many qualified veterans in Jamestown that could join our two organizations to keep the posts together. Otherwise, in a year or two, we will not have enough veterans to staff the Memorial Day Parade and raise the coffin flags of Jamestown veterans at Veterans Square who passed away.

We did not have enough VFW Post members to carry our Post colors in this Memorial Day Parade for the first time ever.

The American Legion Post 22 and VFW Post 9447 have existed for nearly 100 years. I hope there are a few veterans in Jamestown who would join us and help save the two posts.

The people who attend our meetings are in their 80s and 90s. Please join us, young and old.
